Reading Test 25 · Part 1 (Bike Ride Return Route)Pro

Subject: Return Route for Sunday’s Ride

Hi Joel,

I wanted to check our plans for Sunday’s cycling trip along the Meadowline Trail. We planned to ride outward and return with our bicycles on the four o’clock train. I was looking forward to it, and everything seemed settled until this week. I need to change the plan because the railway reduced bicycle capacity on that service. One carriage is unavailable and only two bicycle spaces remain. As a result, our group of five cannot rely on boarding together for the return.

I first checked a paved loop that reconnects with our starting point. The Riverbend extension adds twelve kilometres but avoids the train completely. Before suggesting a change, I reviewed our earlier messages and the details already confirmed. One detail to keep in mind is that you are carrying the shared repair pump and planned to leave early by rail. My preferred solution is using the Riverbend loop and shortening our lunch stop. That would work best because everyone can finish together without competing for limited train spaces.

That approach would preserve the parts of the plan that still work for everyone. If that works for you, I can update everything else as soon as you reply. Another possibility is splitting the group between two later trains. The difficulty with that option is that arrival times would differ and the last service has no guaranteed bicycle space. I thought about dropping the plan completely, but that would create more trouble than it solves. I’d rather use one of the practical alternatives that is already available.

The practical detail I have not resolved is that the extension has one water station but no food stop. Please tell me what you think we should do about that part of the plan. I kept the records about Sunday’s cycling trip along the Meadowline Trail together for this review. No other related plan needs to change while this matter is reviewed. A written reply about using the Riverbend loop and shortening our lunch stop would prevent confusion.

Thank you for considering the timing and practical effects of this request. I need your answer by Saturday afternoon. The group needs time to carry enough water and adjust return plans. What I’m hoping is that you can ride the full loop and confirm you can stay for the extra distance. Once I hear from you, I will update the route file and remind everyone to pack another bottle.

Hi Samira,

Thanks for explaining the mix-up and the options you considered. I understand that . The first plan made sense, but this new issue clearly needs a different answer.

I can confirm that . That choice is suitable because . I’ve updated my notes so we won’t treat the earlier plan as final.

Because you are carrying the shared repair pump and planned to leave early by rail, . I will send the revised instructions after I finish the update today. The other option can remain available if something changes before the deadline.

Please reply by so I know you accept the revised plan. After your confirmation, I will send the revised distance and expected finish time. Thanks for giving me enough detail to sort this out without another long exchange.

See you soon,

Joel
