Hi Leanne,
I registered for the April 18 furniture repair workshop in March and have been looking forward to it. My original confirmation listed the ground-floor Mill Room at the Rivermark Adult Learning Hub. Yesterday’s update moved the class to second-floor Studio 4 at Larchway Arts Annex. I understand that the change is necessary while the Mill Room floor is being refinished.
I injured my left knee two weeks ago, and although I can manage short walks, climbing a full flight of stairs is still painful. Because the annex lift will remain unavailable until the end of the month, reaching Studio 4 by stairs while carrying a toolbox would be painful with my injured knee. The annex front desk confirmed this morning that there is no other step-free route to the studio. Hana suggested contacting you before cancelling because the hub sometimes reserves spaces in later sessions.
Hana mentioned a May 9 session in the ground-floor training room at North Quay Community Centre. It has the same instructor and covers loose joints, damaged finishes, and sticking drawers. The public registration page currently shows a waitlist, so I could not move my booking online. Could you confirm whether one of the transfer spaces is still available for me?
I prefer a transfer because I already borrowed two small tools from the learning hub. My $12 tool-kit rental is attached to the April 18 booking, with pickup scheduled at the Mill Room desk that morning. If I move to May 9, could the rental be transferred and collected at North Quay instead? If that is not possible, my neighbour Tomas can return the borrowed tools to Rivermark before the original workshop date.
The May 23 beginner restoration clinic would be my second choice if the May 9 transfer cannot be arranged. That clinic covers surface preparation and basic joint repairs, but its outline does not include the drawer-repair section. Repairing my grandmother’s sticking dresser drawer is why I chose this workshop, so May 9 suits me much better. I cannot attend the May 16 class because my workplace is completing its annual inventory that weekend.
I paid the $68 course fee when I registered, and I would appreciate knowing whether a transfer creates any additional charge. I can provide a note from my physiotherapist if the learning hub needs documentation for the change. If neither alternate date is available, please tell me whether the course fee and tool rental can be refunded together. Could you reply by Tuesday afternoon so I have time to cancel the ride I arranged for April 18?
