Subject: Different Room for Aunt Lila’s Visit

Hi Adrian,

I wanted to sort out Aunt Lila’s weekend stay at my house with you. We prepared the downstairs guest room because it is close to the bathroom. I was looking forward to it, and everything seemed settled until this week. The reason I’m asking now is that the guest-room radiator will remain disconnected during her visit. The plumber found a cracked valve and must order the correct replacement.

As a result, the room will be too cold overnight even with extra blankets. I first measured the upstairs study and moved the small desk against the wall. The folding bed fits there and the upstairs bathroom has a sturdy handrail. I went back through the original information to make sure the difficulty was not based on a misunderstanding. One detail to keep in mind is that you planned to bring the borrowed bedside lamp and a small luggage stand.

My preferred solution is setting up the upstairs study as the temporary guest room. That would work best because it will be warm and still gives Aunt Lila safe bathroom access. This seems more practical than rebuilding the arrangement from the beginning. If that works for you, I can update everything else as soon as you reply. Another possibility is having her sleep on the living-room sofa downstairs.

The difficulty with that option is that the room offers no privacy and the sofa is too low for her comfort. I thought about dropping the plan completely, but that would create more trouble than it solves. I’d rather use one of the practical alternatives that is already available. The practical detail I have not resolved is that the folding bed needs the thicker mattress stored in your basement. Please tell me what you think we should do about that part of the plan.

I kept the records about Aunt Lila’s weekend stay at my house together for this review. No other related plan needs to change while this matter is reviewed. A written reply about setting up the upstairs study as the temporary guest room would prevent confusion. Thank you for considering the timing and practical effects of this request.

I need your answer by Thursday evening. I need enough time to arrange another mattress if yours is unavailable. What I’m hoping is that you can bring the thick mattress and help set up the study. Once I hear from you, I will clear the study floor and move the reading chair upstairs.

Hi Ivy,

Thanks for laying out what changed and what you have already tried. I understand that . The first plan made sense, but this new issue clearly needs a different answer.

I can confirm that . That choice is suitable because . I’ve updated my notes so we won’t treat the earlier plan as final.

Because you planned to bring the borrowed bedside lamp and a small luggage stand, . I will send the revised instructions after I finish the update today. The other option can remain available if something changes before the deadline.

Please reply by so I know you accept the revised plan. After your confirmation, I will send a photo of the finished room and stair lighting. Thanks for giving me enough detail to sort this out without another long exchange.

See you soon,

Adrian
