Reading Test 48 · Part 1 (Rescheduling Food Drive Pickups)Pro

Read the following message.

From: Amara Foster

To: Dylan Laurent

Subject: Changes to Food Drive Pickups

Hi Dylan,

I wanted to check in about the grocery pickups for Friday's community food drive. We planned to collect dairy donations before the afternoon pantry shift. Everything appeared to be settled, and I had planned around the original arrangement. I am contacting you now because the pantry refrigerator will be unavailable until evening. A replacement fan is arriving later than the repair company expected. As a result, chilled food cannot be stored safely at the usual time.

I first called the participating grocery stores about later collection windows. Two stores can hold their donations until seven and one closes at six. I also checked the information we exchanged earlier so I would not overlook an existing condition. One detail to keep in mind is that you normally drive the route and have insulated containers for the shorter stop. My preferred solution is collecting the early-closing store at five thirty and the other two after seven.

That would work best because the containers can protect the first donation until refrigeration returns. I do not want to change more of the arrangement than the current problem requires. If this is acceptable, I can update the remaining details as soon as I receive your reply. Another possibility is asking all stores to keep the food until Saturday. The difficulty with that option is that the early-closing store has no weekend staff.

I considered cancelling the arrangement entirely, but that would create unnecessary work for everyone involved. For that reason, I would rather use one of the practical alternatives already available. The practical detail I have not resolved is that the pantry volunteer with the alarm code must meet the final driver. Please let me know how that part should be handled if the preferred plan is approved.

I kept the records about the grocery pickups for Friday's community food drive together for this review. No other related plan needs to change while this matter is reviewed. A written reply about collecting the early-closing store at five thirty and the other two after seven would prevent confusion. Thank you for considering the timing and practical effects of this request.

I need your answer by Thursday at four. The stores need confirmed pickup names before their evening shifts. Most importantly, I am asking you to drive the revised route and bring the insulated containers. Once I hear from you, I will notify the stores and pair an alarm-code volunteer with the final stop.

Thanks,

Amara

Hi Amara,

Thanks for explaining what changed and what you have already tried. I understand that . The original arrangement was reasonable, but the new complication calls for a different plan.

I can confirm that . That choice is suitable because . I have updated the records so the earlier arrangement is no longer treated as final.

Because you normally drive the route and have insulated containers for the shorter stop, . I will send the revised instructions after I finish the update today. The other option can remain available if something changes before the deadline.

Please reply by so I know you accept the revised plan. After your confirmation, I will send the confirmed pickup list and access arrangement. Thank you for providing enough detail to resolve this without another round of questions.

Best,

Dylan
