Subject: Thursday Running Route Detour
Hi Emmett,
I wanted to sort out Thursday’s easy run with our neighbourhood group with you. We planned two loops through Fern Creek Park using the eastern footbridge. I was looking forward to it, and everything seemed settled until this week. The reason I’m asking now is that the footbridge will be closed during our run. Inspectors found loose railing anchors and scheduled immediate repairs. As a result, our planned loop ends at a barrier with no nearby crossing.
I first walked the western path and measured its distance on my watch. The Orchard Lane detour adds only one kilometre and has working path lights. I also checked the information we exchanged earlier so I would not overlook an existing condition. One detail to keep in mind is that you are leading the slower pace group and carrying the first-aid pouch. My preferred solution is using the Orchard Lane detour and starting five minutes earlier.
That would work best because the group keeps a continuous route and returns close to the usual time. I do not want to change more of the arrangement than the current problem requires. If that works for you, I can update everything else as soon as you reply. Another possibility is running repeated laps around the sports field. The difficulty with that option is that a youth practice begins there halfway through our session.
I thought about dropping the plan completely, but that would create more trouble than it solves. I’d rather use one of the practical alternatives that is already available. The practical detail I have not resolved is that the western path has one unmarked turn beside the greenhouse. Please tell me what you think we should do about that part of the plan.
I kept the records about Thursday’s easy run with our neighbourhood group together for this review. No other related plan needs to change while this matter is reviewed. A written reply about using the Orchard Lane detour and starting five minutes earlier would prevent confusion. Thank you for considering the timing and practical effects of this request.
I need your answer by Wednesday at six. I need time to place a route marker and update the group message. What I’m hoping is that you can approve the detour and mention the unmarked turn during your briefing. Once I hear from you, I will share the route map and bring a reflective marker.

Hi Claire,
Thanks for laying out what changed and what you have already tried. I understand that . The first plan made sense, but this new issue clearly needs a different answer.
I can confirm that . That choice is suitable because . I’ve updated my notes so we won’t treat the earlier plan as final.
Because you are leading the slower pace group and carrying the first-aid pouch, . I will send the revised instructions after I finish the update today. The other option can remain available if something changes before the deadline.
Please reply by so I know you accept the revised plan. After your confirmation, I will send the final route link to all runners. Thanks for giving me enough detail to sort this out without another long exchange.
See you soon,
Emmett
