Reading Test 7 · Part 1 (Scanning Old Class Photos)Pro

Subject: New Place to Scan the Class Photos

Hi Miles,

I wanted to check our plans for our plan to scan the old class photographs on Saturday. We booked the small media room at Brookside Library from ten until noon. I was looking forward to it, and everything seemed settled until this week. I need to change the plan because the library moved our booking to a room without a flatbed scanner.

A children’s program needed the media room after its projector failed. As a result, we can meet at Brookside but cannot digitize the fragile photographs there. I first called the Westfield branch and described the size of the albums. Its archive room has a large scanner available from eleven until two.

I also checked the earlier arrangements before deciding which alternative might cause the least disruption. One detail to keep in mind is that you are bringing the labelled envelopes that match each class year. My preferred solution is moving the session to Westfield at eleven. That would work best because the proper scanner will protect the photographs and give us enough time to organize files.

It would solve the immediate problem while keeping the useful details already settled. If that works for you, I can update everything else as soon as you reply. Another possibility is meeting at Brookside only to sort the envelopes. The difficulty with that option is that we would still need another date for scanning and some classmates are leaving town.

I thought about dropping the plan completely, but that would create more trouble than it solves. I’d rather use one of the practical alternatives that is already available. The practical detail I have not resolved is that Westfield requires one person to show a library card before using the archive room. Please tell me what you think we should do about that part of the plan.

I kept the records about our plan to scan the old class photographs on Saturday together for this review. No other related plan needs to change while this matter is reviewed. A written reply about moving the session to Westfield at eleven would prevent confusion. Thank you for considering the timing and practical effects of this request.

I need your answer by Friday afternoon. The librarian will release the room if I do not confirm the cardholder. What I’m hoping is that you can bring your library card and agree to the Westfield location. Once I hear from you, I will reserve the archive scanner and send a transit route.

Hi Farah,

Thanks for explaining the mix-up and the options you considered. I understand that . The first plan made sense, but this new issue clearly needs a different answer.

I can confirm that . That choice is suitable because . I’ve updated my notes so we won’t treat the earlier plan as final.

Because you are bringing the labelled envelopes that match each class year, . I will send the revised instructions after I finish the update today. The other option can remain available if something changes before the deadline.

Please reply by so I know you accept the revised plan. After your confirmation, I will send the confirmed room number and file-naming plan. Thanks for giving me enough detail to sort this out without another long exchange.

See you soon,

Miles
