Subject: Costume Sewing Plan for Thursday
Hi Ethan,
I wanted to sort out finishing the children’s costumes before Friday’s school play with you. We planned to sew the final hems at my house on Thursday. I was looking forward to it, and everything seemed settled until this week. The reason I’m asking now is that my sewing machine stopped feeding fabric evenly. A worn gear began slipping and the repair shop cannot return it this week.
As a result, we cannot complete four strong hems with the machine in its current condition. I first asked the theatre volunteer whether the costume room has spare equipment. She offered us one machine from five thirty until eight on Thursday. I went back through the original information to make sure the difficulty was not based on a misunderstanding. One detail to keep in mind is that you already cut and labelled the fabric pieces for each child.
My preferred solution is working in the school costume room with the spare machine. That would work best because the proper equipment and large cutting table should let us finish in one evening. This seems more practical than rebuilding the arrangement from the beginning. If that works for you, I can update everything else as soon as you reply. Another possibility is hand-sewing every hem at my kitchen table.
The difficulty with that option is that the thick fabric is slow to stitch and the seams may not hold during movement. I thought about dropping the plan completely, but that would create more trouble than it solves. I’d rather use one of the practical alternatives that is already available. The practical detail I have not resolved is that the costume-room machine requires a different size of bobbin. Please tell me what you think we should do about that part of the plan.
I kept the records about finishing the children’s costumes before Friday’s school play together for this review. No other related plan needs to change while this matter is reviewed. A written reply about working in the school costume room with the spare machine would prevent confusion. Thank you for considering the timing and practical effects of this request.
I need your answer by Wednesday evening. The volunteer needs to know whether to leave the room unlocked for us. What I’m hoping is that you can meet at the school and bring the labelled pieces and matching thread. Once I hear from you, I will buy the correct bobbins and pack the costume checklist.

Hi Sofia,
Thanks for laying out what changed and what you have already tried. I understand that . The first plan made sense, but this new issue clearly needs a different answer.
I can confirm that . That choice is suitable because . I’ve updated my notes so we won’t treat the earlier plan as final.
Because you already cut and labelled the fabric pieces for each child, . I will send the revised instructions after I finish the update today. The other option can remain available if something changes before the deadline.
Please reply by so I know you accept the revised plan. After your confirmation, I will send the room entrance and equipment instructions. Thanks for giving me enough detail to sort this out without another long exchange.
See you soon,
Ethan
