Speaking Test 8 · Task 8 (Bilingual communication and presentations)

You are at a garden centre and you see an unusual flower planter. The unusual display is a sample and cannot be taken home today. Call your neighbour, who is sharing the cost of your yard project. Describe the flower planter clearly, including its colours, shape, size, and strange parts. Ask whether you should order it for the shared yard.

A high-scoring response covers these points clearly and naturally: a blue floral pattern wrapping around the cup; bright flowers spilling over its rim; a curved handle large enough to walk through; white gravel arranged like spilled sugar nearby; the functional teacup flower planter uses an intentionally absurd but recognizable design; possible explanation: a local artist made the teacup flower planter for fun.
