Speaking Test 43 · Task 8 (Neighbourhood projects and shared spaces)

You are at a garden centre and you notice an unusual herb planter. The unusual display is a sample and cannot be taken home today. Call your neighbour, who is sharing the cost of your yard project. Describe the herb planter fully, including its colours, shape, size, and unusual features. Ask whether you should order it for the shared yard.

A high-scoring response covers these points clearly and naturally: green herbs growing from the open boot; a polished blade forming the planter stand; red laces tied around small plant labels without text; tiny white flowers decorating the ankle; the functional ice-skate herb planter uses an intentionally absurd but recognizable design; possible explanation: a local artist created the ice-skate herb planter as a play
